What is Threading? Threading is an ancient art of hair removal that has been safely used by women of Eastern countries (Asian, Persian and Arab countries) for centuries. Only relatively recently has this art been brought to the West. The Threading Specialist twists and rolls a very thin cotton thread over the natural hairline of the client’s eyebrow. The hair is plucked at the follicle level, leaving a clean and natural look for the skin.

How precise will the outcome be? Where as tweezing involves plucking one hair at a time, the possibility of too many hair and ending up with an undesired shape is higher. Wax on the other hand is difficult to control thereby making a precise shape relatively more difficult. Eyebrow threading involves removing multiple hair follicles in a straight line – in one shot. This makes for a quick and precise shaping procedure.

How long does it take? Tweezing is a time-consuming process. Hair must be removed one at a time until the desired look is achieved. Eyebrow threading takes approximately the same amount of time as waxing. Generally speaking, an eyebrow threading session usually takes less than 10 minutes. Upper lip and lower lip jobs can take less than 5 minutes each. A full face can take 20 – 30 minutes.

Is it painful? Will my skin be irritated afterwards? Since waxing involves applying hot wax (chemicals) on your skin and then rapidly pulling the adhesive paper, it often leaves the sensitive facial skin irritated and temporarily damaged. This makes for a great environment for re-occurring acne (among other potential skin problems). Eyebrow threading hardly touches the skin at all. The thread targets hair follicles and leaves the skin free of rashes, irritation and unwanted reactions. You may feel uncomfortable with your first experience with threading; however you will quickly get acclimated to the procedure. The sensation is often compared to tweezing yet far quicker in duration.

How long before the hair grow back? Since the hair is removed by the follicle it typically takes longer for it to grow back (as compared to other conventional hair removal procedures). How soon the hair will grow back is highly dependent on your physiological make up and hair tendency. Generally, our clients make re-occurring appointments every 3 weeks or so.

What makes Kira Threading different from all the other threading salons?

Our Staff: Our staff is made up of some of the best trained threading specialists in the industry. We understand that quality of service is a function of number of years of experience as well as a quality-centered attitude. These are the top two traits we look for in our personnel.

Flexibility: We try our best to work around your schedule. Although we prefer that you make an appointment ahead of time, we happily accept walk in clients.

Customer Focus: Whereas our competitors focus on bringing in as many customers per day as possible, our approach is very different. We focus on the quality aspect of the service (not the quantity). We would much rather take our time with the client and ensure that his/her needs are fully met, even if it means taking fewer clients. If you leave our salon without being 100% satisfied, then we have not done our job – period.
